Congratulations! You’ve made it – all that hard work, sleepless nights and expenditure on books was worth it!
However, you may not have secured the place at the university of your first choosing. The important thing to do is not to panic. There are lots of universities calling out for students to come fill their course spaces, so although you may not have got your first choice, you are still eligible to study what you set out to. If you didn’t get any offers or you missed your chance to take an offer from a university because of commitments, then welcome to the world of clearing.
Let the Search Begin…
The even more stressful part about clearing is finding last minute accommodation after you secure your place as many of the universities’ halls of residences will have their spaces taken up on a first come, first serve basis.
However, there are many alternatives that will allow the same experience of staying in halls, with the cheaper prices too.
When you first come to university you yearn to make friends and socialise. When you aren’t allocated a space in halls you may begin to worry you will not make any acquaintances. However, living in private halls may be much more of a benefit to you and your social life. For example, our Wood Green Hall has lots of social spaces, so you can enjoy time meeting new people in an environment designed for downtime, conversing and entertainment. There is a television lounge for those that want to catch up on reality TV shows together and a games room for those that want to play. There is also a large garden too, meaning you won’t miss out on frisbee tournaments.
Another worry for those looking for accommodation after clearing is that their home will not be up to the standards of the university’s halls. However, at Wood Green Hall every room is equipped with a single bed and mattress, a wardrobe, a chest of drawers, curtains, a desk and chair, shelves and a full-length mirror. Therefore, you won’t have to go out and buy new furniture, saving you a lot of time and money. When you arrive on your first day at university, you just want to lay down and take it all in and you can do that worry free in our fully furnished rooms!
Some may be worried about the sense of community in private halls, but Wood Green Hall is designed to make every single resident comfortable and at home. There is a large common room, a large self-catering and kitchen area and shared single-sex bathrooms, meaning you get all the communal benefits that’ll make you feel just at home. Also, there’s a Sunday to Friday cleaning service in the common areas that will make you forget you’ve left your parents’ living room.
Also, do not worry about security or safety as Wood Green Hall has a twenty-four-hour reception with management and maintenance staff on-site during office hours and security staff on-site on evenings and weekends.
